LegacyDisplay

Use an old jailbroken iPad as a second display for your Mac.

Version 0.1.0

1On your Mac

Install OpenDisplay: download OpenDisplay.dmg and drag the app into Applications.

Open it and allow Screen Recording and Accessibility when asked, then quit it (⌘Q) and open it again.

2On your iPad

Open this page in Safari on the iPad and tap the button for your package manager, then install LegacyDisplay.

Or add this source by hand:

https://shuft.github.io/opendisplay-legacy-ios/

Or download the .deb and open it in Filza.

3Connect

Open LegacyDisplay on the iPad, then plug it into the Mac or put both on the same Wi-Fi. The iPad appears in System Settings › Displays like any other monitor.

One finger clicks and drags, two fingers scroll, and a three-finger tap shows connection stats. After rebooting the iPad, re-run your jailbreak before opening the app.

Requirements

A 64-bit iPad or iPhone (A7 or newer) with a rootful jailbreak on iOS 12 or later, such as Chimera, unc0ver or checkra1n. On iPadOS 15 and later, use OpenDisplay's official app instead.
